Edwin Johnathan, Chief Cook, has been named a winner in the Seafarer category for the Ince Inspired: The Unsung Heroes of 2021 award of shipping at London International Shipping Week.
Mr. Edwin Jonathan joined Seaspan in 2014 as a Messman. He was aboard ‘Seaspan Saigon’ when the COVID-19 outbreak started and, due to the newly introduced safety protocols, was forced to wait a long time on board before getting his sign-off and was able to reunite with his family and loved ones. Despite these hardships, he never lacked in his performance.
Mr. Johnathan’s kept the crew healthy and energized over an extended tour and while being faced with new COVID-19 protocols. His professionalism and resilience are emblematic of the excellent work performed by all seafarers across the globe.
He mentioned that after joining Seaspan as a seafarer, he learned more about the safety aspect of the job and shipboard safety culture, which helped him improve his personal standards as a seafarer.
Chief Cook Edwin truly is a hero. He has given his full support to the Seaspan family and the whole shipping trade to ensure safe, reliable, and economical operations during the pandemic.
