    ROLE DESCRIPTION
    The Commercial Manager supervises daily charter operations on company-managed vessels and is a key member in successful customer delivery. Located in Hamburg, Copenhagen or London, the Commercial Manager works as a key member of our customer-facing team in Europe. 
     
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Performs duties in accordance with the company Safety Management System (SMS); adheres to ISM and company standards
    • Demonstrates teamwork; establishes rapport and maintains effective and collaborative working relationships within the office and external customers
    • Supports European business development function, in ‘total account management’ capacity, including identification of opportunities for additional revenue streams, process efficiency improvements, vessel improvements, reporting back in on market demands for technology and advancement 
    • Works in conjunction with the European business development team to identify potential revenue generating solutions based on discussions with customers
    • Partners with other Commercial team/Business Development team members and Projects and Technology teams to deliver on and developing industry leading solutions
    • Oversees the creation of charter parties, fixture notes and addenda with the assistance of the legal department, and overall responsibility for the timely and efficient creation, and management of these documents
    • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with charterers’ commercial, post-fixture and/or operations teams while effectively managing risks and Seaspan’s business interests
    • Proactively monitors charter party obligations of company vessels; when required, stems vessel bunker, arranges owners’ agency appointments/co-ordination
    • Responsible for monitoring vessel, port, and voyage performance KPIs
    • Carries out continual risk assessment of vessel operations for potential loss-situations and recommends and assists with mitigation measures
    • Supports and briefs vessel masters on charter party obligations as may be requested from time to time, port and voyage performance issues, including responsible for ensuring that the master understands the requirements, reporting obligations, local contacts and operational structure of the charterer 
    • Assists masters and monitors KPIS, which may include obtaining and analyzing vessel commercial reports in support of claims or other performance matters, including delays or deviations. This will involve close interaction with various internal departments such as Marine Services and Projects and Technology
    • Assists with compiling factual, timely information and documents relating to commercial claims, and internal corporate reporting. Follows up on outstanding (owing) customer amounts
    • Supervises vessel damages, and ensuring correct, timely recovery of amounts due from Charterers. Close coordination with the accounts receivable department is a requirement
    • Performs other duties as required
    REQUIREMENTS 
    Post-secondary degree in relevant field from a recognized institution
    French, German and English fluency are required
    • Minimum five years’ experience in chartering, post-fixture or operations/commercial management 
    Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    Must be able to properly analyze situations, mitigate and manage risk, and determine a suitable course of action as part of problem-solving skills
     
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
    Able to negotiate with and influence others, establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships
    Charter party understanding is strongly preferred.

    Role Description: 

    This Executive Analyst provides project based support for the Chairman, President & CEO and administrative support to the Chairman, President & CEO and the General Counsel. This role handles a variety of tasks conducting research and projects for the efficient functioning of the CEO Office, liaising with various parties on behalf of the Chairman, President & CEO and assisting VIP guests when travelling to Hong Kong. This role also handles Executive Assistant duties for the General Counsel.

     

    Job Responsibilities: 

    • Manages project-based tasks to ensure the Chairman, President & CEO meets project deadlines, assists with tracking priorities and ensures projects are completed and followed through
    • Prepares and reviews documents and presentations on the Chairman, President & CEO’s behalf; drafts email messages for the Chairman, President & CEO
    • Supports the CEO in projects and proposals by conducting research and analysis with an analytical mindset; works closely with other function teams to complete ad hoc and strategic analyses
    • Partners with the Executive Coordinator (who is based out of Vancouver) to provide daily administrative support to the CEO, which includes:
    • Preparing agendas and taking minutes for meetings where needed
    • Arranging travel
    • Calendar management and coordination of schedules of other stakeholders
    • Preparing expense reports
    • Ensuring the effective and professional handling of incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and telephone calls
    • Maintaining office records such as contacts and confidential documents
    • Performs other duties or works on various projects as required)
    • In partnership with Vancouver team, prepares Monthly and Quarterly Reporting to the Board of Directors
    • Understands the Company’s goals and strategy and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly
    • Coordinates senior executives travel arrangements
    • Coordinates VIP gifts and arrangements
    • Consecutive speech translation and interpretation when needed
    • Drafts and sends Chairman, President & CEO messages to the Board of Directors
    • Assists in arranging Board Meetings in partnership with the Executive Coordinator based in Vancouver
    • Performs other duties when required by the Board Members and for quarterly Board of Directors meetings
    • Provides daily support to the Chairman President & CEO and General Counsel
    • Coordinates office calendars, including sending and accepting electronic invitations, reminders, preparation for scheduled events, and travel arrangements for the President & CEO and General Counsel
    • Manages office records as they relate to the President & CEO and General Counsel, including creating and organizing files, maintains contacts, and completing and storing confidential documents
    • Prepares expense reports and reconciles credit card statements
    • Ensures the effective and professional handling of incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and telephone calls
    • Coordinates and monitors the executive’s memberships and affiliations
    • Assists in maintaining CEO’s personal contacts and key contacts in Asia
    • Collaborates with other assistants on organizing travels or meetings; As a member of the administration team provides periodic coverage to colleagues, works effectively with other assistants, maintains department contact information and posts department information to the intranet
    • Prepares annual budget for Executive department; monitors budget variances and expenditures as delegated by the executive
    • Translations where needed
    • Performs other duties as required

     

    Requirements: 

    • Minimum of five years in an executive assistant or similar role
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Fluency in Mandarin and English
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
    • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure

  • Treasury Analyst

    Position Description: 

    Reporting to the Associate Manager, Treasury, the Treasury Analyst supports the processes related to corporate liquidity, cash and debt management for Atlas Corp. and Atlas subsidiaries. The position initiates daily banking transactions, prepares reports and analyses, and assists the team with completing the integration of a Treasury Management System (TMS).

    Job Responsibilities

    • Manages global cash for Atlas and Atlas’ subsidiaries  
    • Adheres to the debt calendar and makes timely payments to its domestic and international lenders
    • Plans ahead and accurately times payment schedules, taking in consideration time differences, banking hours and holidays in different countries, availability of signing authorities and each bank’s required processing time
    • Follows approval limits and proper processes in order to comply with SOX
    • Maintains data integrity in Treasury Management System (TMS) and assists with completing integration of the system
    • Processes daily bank transactions including wires from the TMS, inter-company payments, and foreign exchange transactions
    • Processes opening and closing of bank accounts
    • Assists with documentation of Treasury processes & procedures
    • Liaises with accounts payable regarding problematic wires
    • Provides vacation coverage for Treasury team

     

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution
    • Minimum two years’ experience in finance and/or Treasury
    • Experience working with a Treasury Management System or ERP system
    • Solid understanding of domestic and international payment systems, foreign exchange principles, and global/domestic cash management products and techniques
    • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a professional writing style
    • Team player – able to collaborate and communicate with stakeholder departments

    ROLE DESCRIPTION 

    The Director, Maritime Technology leads the technology development efforts responsible for the research and development of Seaspan’s various maritime technology projects and departmental team members as allocated from time to time. The function includes vessel performance assessment with a focus on supporting commercial contract compliance and customer relations support. This position works cooperatively and collaboratively with other managers to ensure timely, risk-averse, and consistent technology and development project management, particularly with the Director, Asset Integrity within the P&T team. The Director will support and be influential in the development of the solutions to the strategic goals setting of the company and of the P&T Department. The Director also acts as deputy to the Vice President, Projects and Technology.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of the various technology projects, and for the planning, control, and reporting of related project budgets
    • Maintains professional relationships and official and non-official communication with managers and team members
    • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with external parties in support of an enhanced technology outlook, and in support of Seaspan’s peer to peer contacts within our customer base and other external stake holders
    • Helps develop contracts, specifications and makers list, plan approvals and with the management of the new build projects
    • Monitors products and performance of manufactures that provide fleet equipment and services
    • Responsible for development and execution of the technology strategy focusing on environment, efficiency and performance. Oversees department activities including hull performance monitoring, vessel performance monitoring systems, research and development activities, and legislation review.
    • Engage and support corporate efforts to ensure that Seaspan is at the forefront of digital solutions, translating to concrete business benefits aligned to company strategy.
    • Monitors various publications to keep current with industry trends and concerns, and co-operates with professional organizations and companies on technology and development projects
    • Travels extensively to review vessel construction sites, model testing, conferences, technical meetings, etc.
    • Monitors department expenses, submits monthly variance reporting and tracks against budget.
    • Ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
    • Communicates expectations to direct reports, manages performance, and provides leadership and support to team members. Is particularly active in maintaining clarity of mission of the role and subordinates, and clear prioritization and progress to accomplishing tasks.
    • Occasionally acts as direct reporting manager for the technology project team and department members
    • Performs other duties as required

    REQUIREMENTS

    • First class marine engineer or naval architect or other relevant proven skill set related to technical project research, development and management
    • Significant and proven management experience in technology and development projects such as hull structure, machinery, electrical and electronic systems
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
    • Strong team management capabilities
    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Minimum of three years of experience as a Technical Manager
    • Preferably have professional recognition as Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer
