    ROLE DESCRIPTION
    The Commercial Manager supervises daily charter operations on company-managed vessels and is a key member in successful customer delivery. This position ensures operational functionality and performs charter-party requirements set out by owners and customers. Located in Hamburg, Copenhagan or London, the Commerical Manager works as a key member of our customer-facing team in Europe. 
     
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Demonstrates teamwork; establishes rapport and maintains effective and collaborative working relationships within the office and external customers
    • Supports European business development function, in ‘total account management’ capacity, including identification of opportunities for additional revenue streams, process efficiency improvements, vessel improvements, reporting back in on market demands for technology and advancement
    • Works in conjunction with the European business development team to identify potential revenue generating solutions based on discussions with customers
    • Partners with other Commercial team/Business Development team members and Projects and Technology teams to deliver on and developing industry leading solutions
    • Oversees the creation of charter parties, fixture notes and addenda with the assistance of the legal department, and overall responsibility for the timely and efficient creation, and management of these documents
    • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with charterers’ commercial, post-fixture and/or operations teams while effectively managing risks and Seaspan’s business interests
    • Proactively monitors charter party obligations of company vessels; when required, stems vessel bunker, arranges owners’ agency appointments/co-ordination
    • Responsible for monitoring vessel, port, and voyage performance KPIs
    • Carries out continual risk assessment of vessel operations for potential loss-situations and recommends and assists with mitigation measures
    • Supports and briefs vessel masters on charter party obligations as may be requested from time to time, port and voyage performance issues, including responsible for ensuring that the master understands the requirements, reporting obligations, local contacts and operational structure of the charterer
    • Assists masters and monitors KPIS, which may include obtaining and analyzing vessel commercial reports in support of claims or other performance matters, including delays or deviations. This will involve close interaction with various internal departments such as Marine Services and Projects and Technology
    • Assists with compiling factual, timely information and documents relating to commercial claims, and internal corporate reporting. Follows up on outstanding (owing) customer amounts
    • Supervises vessel damages, and ensuring correct, timely recovery of amounts due from Charterers. Close coordination with the accounts receivable department is a requirement
    • Performs other duties as required
     
    REQUIREMENTS 
    Post-secondary degree in relevant field from a recognized institution
    Minimum five years’ experience in chartering, post-fixture or operations/commercial management 
    Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    Must be able to properly analyze situations, mitigate and manage risk, and determine a suitable course of action as part of problem-solving skills
     
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
    Able to negotiate with and influence others, establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships
    Charter party understanding is strongly preferred.
    French, German or Danish language skills are an asset

  • Financial Reporting Analyst

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Prepares monthly consolidation working papers and monthly reports to the Board of Directors and Executive Management
    • Reviews certain monthly working papers prepared by Intermediate and Senior Accountants
    • Prepares / reviews audit working papers and fields queries from external and internal auditors
    • Reviews journal entries and prepares analysis related to all major financial statement captions. Reviews less complex analysis to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
    • Review and manage annual and quarterly financial statements for non-public stand-alone entities 
    • Assists in resolving complex accounting reconciliations
    • Assists with review, analysis, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
    • Assists with preparation and review of public company filings including consolidated financial statements, MD&A, 20-F and earnings releases. Reviews supporting schedules for certain note disclosures
    • Assists with process redevelopment and enhancement of internal controls
    • Assists with preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts
    • Provides training to new/ junior staff as needed
    • Performs other duties as required

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution
    • Certified in a recognized professional accounting membership (eg.  CPA)
    • Minimum 5-years of accounting experience in audit and/or industry including exposure to financial statement preparation and disclosure
    • Experience with foreign currency transactions and intercompany transactions
    • Strong knowledge of complex account reconciliations including resolution of reconciling items
    • Understands and has applied internal controls and process redevelopment
    • Very good working knowledge of MS Office applications specifically Excel and Word
    • Strong communication skills to lead and coach less experienced staff members
    • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong analytical skills

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with a public company and SEC requirements
    • Some experience with multiple office organization
    • Familiar with financial systems software (e.g. NetSuite)

    ROLE DESCRIPTION

    Reporting to Atlas’ Vice President, Information Technology, this position develops, implements and maintains cybersecurity and business continuity planning activities. As a key member of the IT management team, the Manager, Cyber Security will have overall responsibility for the development and execution of the Atlas Group of Companies’ Cyber Security roadmap, security operations and incident handling. You will work closely at ensuring standards and best practices for Operational and Information Technologies (OT / IT) are incorporated and executed across the Atlas Group of Companies’ industries (currently maritime and energy).

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Development and implementation of our Cyber Risk & Security framework, plan and roadmap in alignment with policies and standards
    • Development and implementation of Cyber Security standards for both information and operational technologies
    • Development of Cyber Security procedures
    • Leading information technology and operational technology security initiatives and projects from inception to implementation/operation
    • Providing vendor management and oversight on Cyber Security services and products
    • Overseeing the reporting and analysis of Cyber Security operational effectiveness
    • Overseeing the consultation and providing subject matter expertise on information and operational technology security solutions
    • Promoting a culture of Cyber Security awareness across the Atlas Group of Companies

    REQUIREMENTS 

    • Successful candidates will have:
      • Proven experience in Cyber Security with specific experience securing Operational and Information technologies
      • Prior success leading technical team locally and remotely
      • Knowledge of the trends, principles, standards, practices and tools pertaining to Cyber Security
      • Must have a proven demonstrated practice in leading and executing change initiatives
      • Knowledge of corporate, mission critical systems environments, computer technology & infrastructure
      • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and relationship-building skills to deal with senior levels of management, local and remote business partners and Technology teams
      • Professional designation or certification of IT security field such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent

  • Team Lead, IT Infrastructure

    ROLE DESCRIPTION 

    The Team Lead, Information Technology Infrastructure will be responsible for managing all aspects of IT Infrastructure with a focus on providing exceptional customer service and end user experiences. The position has the overall responsibility for managing and supporting Seaspan’s data center operations, cloud infrastructure, telecommunication services, infrastructure team, disaster recovery, workplace & productivity tools, and services delivery to all company end users and business affiliates.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Provide leadership, oversight, and hands-on day-to-day management including but not limited to the network & system infrastructure operations, IT core infrastructure, data centers, backups, monitoring, disaster recovery and business continuity
    • Identifying, documenting, and creation of the appropriate administrative processes and procedures for all infrastructure components
    • Manage remote office infrastructure and plan for cloud-first adoption of IT services
    • Work with Marine IT Infrastructure team to support remote connectivity to vessels and provide guidance on systems, networks and overall operations
    • Manage Internet, VPN and private circuits connecting worldwide operations
    • Provide input and guidance for IT infrastructure  & integration with Seaspan affiliate organizations
    • Create, update, and enhance IT procedures and policies, plan and execute preventative maintenance activities and initiatives
    • Effectively communicate information systems status, issues and recommendations for change to business customers, other IT managers, and staff on a routine basis
    • Assist with the preparation of the annual operating budget for the IT Department and manage budget expenditures
    • Direct work assignments, perform resource allocation, planning and control, measure results, and write weekly / monthly status reports
    • Coach staff by identifying additional skills, training and development plans required
    • Build relationships with end-user business partners and other IT groups to ensure systems’ operational efficiency and stability
    • Negotiate, write, and report on internal and external Service Level Agreements
    • Work with the IT Management team to implement and execute plans which ensure the IT Infrastructure Group fully supports the company goals and initiatives
    • Design and implement high availability of systems and networking where applicable for redundant IT operations

    Experience:

    • Strong management and supervisory skills, with demonstrated ability to: set priorities and assign resources, train, motivate, evaluate, and manage a team
    • 5 plus years of experience as a technologist with focus on infrastructure, management of computer operations, networking and system administration and 2 plus years in a technical management role
    • Industry certifications (e.g.: MCSE, VCP-DCV, CCNP) would be an asset
    • Broad understanding of operating systems, hardware platforms, data center operations, telecommunications, security, and storage technologies. Experience supporting a network infrastructure with remote facilities and high availability solutions
    • Experience managing and implementing cloud, on-premise, hosted and hybrid IT infrastructure (i.e. Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, VMWare)
    • Experience managing and deploying Microsoft O365 services and Single Sign-On (Okta)

    Education:

    ROLE DESCRIPTION 

    The Director, Maritime Technology leads the technology development efforts responsible for the research and development of Seaspan’s various maritime technology projects and departmental team members as allocated from time to time. The function includes vessel performance assessment with a focus on supporting commercial contract compliance and customer relations support. This position works cooperatively and collaboratively with other managers to ensure timely, risk-averse, and consistent technology and development project management, particularly with the Director, Asset Integrity within the P&T team. The Director will support and be influential in the development of the solutions to the strategic goals setting of the company and of the P&T Department. The Director also acts as deputy to the Vice President, Projects and Technology.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of the various technology projects, and for the planning, control, and reporting of related project budgets
    • Maintains professional relationships and official and non-official communication with managers and team members
    • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with external parties in support of an enhanced technology outlook, and in support of Seaspan’s peer to peer contacts within our customer base and other external stake holders
    • Helps develop contracts, specifications and makers list, plan approvals and with the management of the new build projects
    • Monitors products and performance of manufactures that provide fleet equipment and services
    • Responsible for development and execution of the technology strategy focusing on environment, efficiency and performance. Oversees department activities including hull performance monitoring, vessel performance monitoring systems, research and development activities, and legislation review.
    • Engage and support corporate efforts to ensure that Seaspan is at the forefront of digital solutions, translating to concrete business benefits aligned to company strategy.
    • Monitors various publications to keep current with industry trends and concerns, and co-operates with professional organizations and companies on technology and development projects
    • Travels extensively to review vessel construction sites, model testing, conferences, technical meetings, etc.
    • Monitors department expenses, submits monthly variance reporting and tracks against budget.
    • Ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
    • Communicates expectations to direct reports, manages performance, and provides leadership and support to team members. Is particularly active in maintaining clarity of mission of the role and subordinates, and clear prioritization and progress to accomplishing tasks.
    • Occasionally acts as direct reporting manager for the technology project team and department members
    • Performs other duties as required

    REQUIREMENTS

    • First class marine engineer or naval architect or other relevant proven skill set related to technical project research, development and management
    • Significant and proven management experience in technology and development projects such as hull structure, machinery, electrical and electronic systems
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
    • Strong team management capabilities
    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Minimum of three years of experience as a Technical Manager
    • Preferably have professional recognition as Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer
