  • Executive Research Analyst

    Position Description:  

    The Executive Research Analyst provides project-based and administrative support for the CEO. This role provides a broad exposure from business operations to strategic development such as conducting research and project/task management for the CEO Office, as well as fulfilling the administrative functions such as travel and schedule management. The Executive Research Analyst is required to be a highly organized, ‘gatekeeper’ of the CEO’s time/activity management. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Manages project-based tasks to ensure the CEO manages project deadlines, including assisting with tracking priorities and ensuring projects are completed and followed through
    • Prepares and reviews documents, presentations, email and other correspondence on behalf of and for the CEO 
    • Supports the CEO by conducting research and analysis with an analytical mindset; works closely with other functional teams to complete ad hoc and strategic research and analyses
    • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of business activities and initiatives through the effective management of the CEO’s calendar 
    • Partners with the Executive Coordinator in Vancouver to provide daily administrative support to the CEO, which includes:
      • Preparing agendas and taking minutes for meetings where needed, in alignment with organizational goals 
      • Arranging travel
      • Calendar management by prioritizing and demonstrating a thorough understanding of high priority items 
      • Preparing expense reports
      • Ensuring the effective and professional handling of incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and telephone calls
      • Maintaining office records such as contacts and confidential documents
      • Performs other duties or works on various projects as required)
    • In partnership with Vancouver team, prepares Monthly and Quarterly Reporting to the Board of Directors
    • Completes speech translation and interpretation when needed
    • Drafts and sends CEO messages to the Board of Directors
    • Assists in arranging Board Meetings and other duties in partnership with the Executive Coordinator based in Vancouver
    • Works with the Executive Coordinator to monitor budget variances and expenditures as delegated
    • Performs other duties as required

    Requirements:   

    • One to three years in a financial, consulting, equity or research analyst role, experience in managing project and supporting Senior Executives 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Fluency in Mandarin and English

  • Post-Fixture Manager

    Position Description:

    The Post- Fixture Manager supervises daily charter operations on company-managed vessels. This position ensures operational functionality and performs charter-party requirements set out by owners and customers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develops strong working relationship with customer's teams at all levels within their organizations 
    • Partners cross-functionally to deliver a best-in-class customer experience 
    • Responsible for monitoring vessel, port, and voyage performance KPIs
    • Monitors the organization's charter party obligations of company vessels
    • Carries out continual risk assessment of vessel operations for potential loss-situations and recommends and assists with mitigation measures
    • Supports and briefs vessel masters on charter party obligations as may be requested from time to time, port and voyage performance issues, including responsible for ensuring that the master understands the requirements, reporting obligations, local contacts and operational structure of the charterer 
    • Assists masters and monitors KPIS, which may include obtaining and analyzing vessel commercial reports in support of claims or other performance matters, including delays or deviations. This will involve close interaction with various internal departments such as Marine Services and Projects and Technology
    • Assists with compiling factual, timely information and documents relating to commercial claims, and internal corporate reporting. Follows up on outstanding (owing) customer amounts
    • Supervises vessel damages, and ensuring correct, timely recovery of amounts due from Charterers. Close coordination with the accounts receivable department is a requirement
    • Performs other duties as required
    • Carries out continual risk assessment of vessel operations for potential loss-situations and recommends and assists with mitigation measures
    • Supports and briefs vessel masters on charter party obligations, port and voyage performance issues. Is responsible for ensuring that the master understands the requirements, reporting obligations, local contacts and operational structure of the charterer. Monitors and assists masters e.g. may obtain and analyze vessel commercial reports in support of claims etc., including delays or deviations
    • Monitors vessels for potential trading breaches under the charter party and insurance covers; monitors vessel performance through breach transits
    • Demonstrates a strong understand of customer needs and identifies key trends from within the customer base
    • Performs other duties as required
    • Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).  In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines

    Requirements:

    • Post-secondary degree in relevant field from a recognized institution
    • Minimum five years’ experience in chartering post-fixture or operations management
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    • Must be able to properly analyze situations, mitigate and manage risk, and determine a suitable course of action as part of problem-solving skills

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Able to negotiate with and influence others, establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships
    • Experience in a command role at sea is an asset.

    Position Description:

     

    The Financial Planning & Analysis function is the centre of analytical excellence to drive insightful business decisions and strategy. The FP&A Manager is responsible for leading planning and forecasting activities within FP&A and providing support to the Director, Corporate Finance and CFO. This position acts as a thought partner with key stakeholders across the business to translate strategy into executable plans and measure performance through best-in-class management reporting.  In addition, the role is focused on building the capabilities of the team though development of reporting tools, analytical models and financial planning processes to effectively scale business growth.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Leads the annual strategic planning and monthly forecasting cycle in close partnership with key stakeholders (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow)
    • Develops actionable management reporting to provide insights into performance, variances, drivers and key business trends
    • Manages the corporate financial model, including running various scenario analyses as required to evaluate overall impact on earnings, liquidity and capital structure. Builds in robust controls to ensure accuracy of results produced

  • Senior Manager, Financial Reporting (15-month contract)

    • Support the creation of materials related to the quarterly earnings calls including but not limited to; investor presentation, fact sheet, Q&A development, financial back-up, post-event reporting, earning press release, scripts and transcript reviews
    • Ensure accurate and timely coverage of company data, events and news in both the broader and financial media

    Position Description:

    This position reports directly to the Team Lead, IT Customer Care & Helpdesk and focuses on support for all Tier 1 and 2 end user support on- shore. Responsible for providing customer care and support services to various users experiencing technical problems and IT issues involving business applications, workplace productivity tools, desktop, laptop, telecommunications and network services. This includes providing second line support, problem tracking, diagnosis, replication, resolution, escalation and system / application support documentation development for all of Seaspan’s offices. This role will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem- solving skills to ensure client satisfaction with both operational and project related issues. The IT Service Delivery Specialist also manages project support transition services and strives to achieve timely closure of project implementation issues and ensure a positive synergy exists between project and support teams as well as end users.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Respond to systems, applications, hardware, and other client problems by investigating problems and taking corrective actions. Provide both telephone and desk-side second-level support for desktops, laptops, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Based Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows 10), iOS, telecommunications and suite of Seaspan’s business applications.
    • Configure, install and update desktops, laptops and peripherals based on client service requests, computer evergreen program or as otherwise assigned. Perform desktop application installations, upgrades, and support and maintenance activities.
    • Perform preventative maintenance of systems, applications and computing equipment in area of IT Service Delivery team’s responsibility.
    • Provide operating and administration functions including user set up, configuration and management for systems and business applications. These responsibilities include:

    Position Description

    The Business Transformation Analyst works with the Business Transformation Team to drive overall process improvement and business transformation in the organization. Using process improvement and project management techniques, this position analyzes and maps the current processes, defines, and maps the improved processes by embracing a collaborative approach. This further includes developing process simplification, system automation and digitalization. This position may be needed to work closely with internal and external business contacts, while keeping strict confidentiality.

    Job Responsibilities

    • In co-ordination with Manager Business Transformation, lead efforts to improve company performance through organizational re-structures, digital transformation, and Process Excellence initiatives.
    • Supports development of Seaspan's Knowledge Management System by mapping, analyzing, and re-engineering business processes around simplification and technology enablement.
    • Works with cross functional business stakeholders to develop business plans and supporting Business / Digital strategies and plans.
    • Gathers and analyzes data for studies to prove the technical and economic feasibility of proposed solutions and projects for business and digital transformation.
    • Develops process maps and workflow in collaboration with business owners and confirms business and technical requirements by working with business stakeholders.
    • Specialize in development of business cases, stakeholder analysis, use case development, business value analysis and information system strategic planning.
    • Implement change management techniques for sustainable execution of initiatives and ensure business benefits are tracked post implementation.
    • Aligns cross-functional internal and external resources to ensure project completion is complete and cohesive to the organization’s programs and strategy.
    • Supports executive projects, including preparation and submission of business cases and reports.
    • Engages with internal and external contacts for benchmarking and analysis projects involving operational and financial performance.
    • Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005) and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental non-compliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience with Business Analysis. CBAP Certification would be an asset.
    • Experience on Transformation, Process improvement or Project management roles.
    • Experience with process analysis, process mapping, business case development or strategy planning and execution.
    • Ability to create and manage professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders as a pivotal point of contact within the organization.
    • General understanding of corporate structures and business concepts
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), project management tools.
    • Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with proficient writing style
    • Sound organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
    • Detail-oriented and resourceful with a solution-driven attitude

    Additional Desired Qualifications

    • Prior experience in a ship management company would be an asset
    • Lean Six Sigma or other Process Improvement certification would be an asset
    • PMP or similar project management certification would be an asset
    • Experience with data analytics would be an asset

    Position Description:

    Reporting to the Director, we have an exciting opportunity for an Internal Audit Manager to join our team.The Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring SOX compliance in partnership with external parties, managing the organization’s risk portfolio through the coordination of Enterprise Risk Management, and is responsible for delivering operational audits. The Internal Audit team all operate with the objective of promoting operational efficiency and ensure financial statement reliability.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate Atlas Corp.’s risk assessment process, further develop and refine the process and make recommendations to have a scalable Internal Audit function for a high-growth organization
    • Facilitate key governance programs and oversight committees, including the Enterprise Risk Management framework and Ethics and Compliance Program
    • Own the delivery of the SOX compliance program through support and management of external resources, ensuring internal stakeholders are well informed 
    • Coordinate with external auditors on the annual audit plan
    • Analyze findings, observations and draw appropriate conclusions based on both technical guidance and professional judgment
    • Lead and deliver on the risk-based annual audit plan consisting of various operational audits
    • Prepare status updates, reports and other information requirements as needed for the Executive Leadership Team, project stakeholders and the Audit Committee of the Board
    • Identify control gaps and provide constructive recommendations for remediation
    • Communicate with and educate management on the importance of an effective control environment and the importance compliance with an Internal Audit framework
    • Lead IT general controls work relating to new system implementations and coordinating effectively with outsourced resources
    • Review the work of internal and outsourced resources as needed

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
    • CPA (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation is required; CIA or CISA designation is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of the COSO Integrated Framework (2013); knowledge of COBIT is an asset.
    • Minimum 6 years external/internal audit or public accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory position  
    • Knowledge of PCAOB requirements is preferred.

    Position Description:

    Reporting to the Manager, Business Solutions, the Data Warehouse (DW) Analyst is responsible for the modeling, mapping and execution of all activities related to integration of data across various sources into an organized and unified view. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for the monitoring of data flow between databases, servers and cloud services and serve as the subject matter expert on the source and definitions of data attributes. This role will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure client satisfaction with both operational and project related issues.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with project managers and developers/database administrator to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion.
    • Take lead in the design and maintenance of company data integrations involving a variety of data sources.
    • Identify data related issues and work to ensure a high level of data availability.
    • Coordinate with other technical staff to develop relational database objects as required.
    • Identify inefficiencies in existing data integrations and leverage solutions to improve the systems.
    • Analyze user requirements and based on findings, design functional specifications for inclusion in the Corporate Data Warehouse.
    • Integrations between various data sources.  This includes writing queries, triggers, stored procedures, data quality, data validity, and ensuring database integrity. 
    • Determining data quality issues and troubleshooting data issues

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an enterprise-level data integrations role.
    • Proven experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional databases between disparate business units and systems.
    • Experience with database platforms and writing SQL queries, stored procedures and triggers
    • Experience with Talend ETL toolset and administration
    • Maintain high standards of data quality through the introduction and enforcement of information handling processes and organization of the data integration processes.
    • Hands on experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping and methodology development, and data mapping.
    • Deductive reasoning skills as they pertain to Data Integration activities, such as troubleshooting focused on determining source of issues and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems.
