    Position Description

    The Business Development Manager supervises daily charter operations on company-managed vessels and is a key member in successful customer delivery. Located in Hamburg, Copenhagen, Geneva or Marseille, the Business Development Manager works as a key member of our customer-facing team in Europe. 

    Job Responsibilities

    • Performs duties in accordance with the company Safety Management System (SMS); adheres to ISM and company standards
    • Supports European business development function in ‘total account management’ capacity
    • Works in conjunction with the European business development team to identify potential revenue generating solutions with Seaspan’s key customers
    • Partners cross-functionally within Seaspan to deliver on and developing industry leading solutions
    • Develops and maintains relationships with the existing customers through enhancing customer coverage and broadening the relationship base
    • Gathers solid and actionable business intelligence and information through building relationships with customer teams at all level with customer organizations and works as a team member to develop solutions for customers 
    • Proactively negotiate Seaspan’s existing fleet of vessels for charter in partnership with the Commercial Operations team
    • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with the customer’s commercial, post-fixture and/or operations teams while effectively managing risks and Seaspan’s business interests
    • Monitor and respond to any charter party obligations of company vessels in partnership with the Post-Fixture team
    • Supports the Post-Fixture team in negotiating any vessel commercial reports in support of claims  
    • Anticipates upcoming customer commercial and operational needs, and handles in a proactive manner

    Requirements

    • Post-secondary degree in relevant field from a recognized institution
    • Experience in container shipping is a requirement
    • English and German or French fluency is required
    • Minimum five years’ experience in chartering or commercial management required
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    • Must be able to properly analyze situations, mitigate and manage risk, and determine a suitable course of action as part of problem-solving skills

    Desired Qualifications

    • Able to negotiate with and influence others, establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships
    • In depth Charter party knowledge and understanding, and container industry experience is strongly preferred.

  • IT Service Delivery Specialist

     

    Position Description:

     

    This position reports to the Team Lead, IT Customer Care & Helpdesk and focuses on support for all Tier 1 and 2 end user support on-shore.

    Responsible for providing customer care and support services to various users experiencing technical problems and IT issues involving business applications, workplace productivity tools, desktop, laptop, telecommunications and network services. This includes providing second line support, problem tracking, diagnosis, replication, resolution, escalation and system / application support documentation development for all of Seaspan’s offices.

    This role will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure client satisfaction with both operational and project related issues.

    The IT Service Delivery Specialist also manages project support transition services and strives to achieve timely closure of project implementation issues and ensure a positive synergy exists between project and support teams as well as end users.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

     

    • Respond to systems, applications, hardware, and other client problems by investigating problems and taking corrective actions. Provide telephone, email and desk-side second-level support for desktops, laptops, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Based Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows 10), iOS, Android, telecommunications and suite of Seaspan’s business applications.
    • Configure, install and update desktops, laptops and peripherals based on client service requests, computer evergreen program or as otherwise assigned. Perform desktop application installations, upgrades, and support and maintenance activities.
    • Perform preventative maintenance of systems, applications and computing equipment in area of IT Service Delivery team’s responsibility.
    • Provide operating and administration functions including user set up, configuration and management for systems and business applications. These responsibilities include:
      • creation and termination of Network / O365 user accounts
      • managing the rights and permissions of network/email accounts
      • creation and termination of user accounts for business applications
      • managing the rights and permissions of accounts for business applications
      • creation of group permissions and rights to file directories
      • application groups and distribution lists.
      • telecommunication service request – moves, adds and changes.

     

    • Liaise with key contacts and IT resources on application and system issues. Communicate effectively with clients and other team members while gathering information to facilitate problem resolution.
    • Assist Infrastructure team in support as "remote-hands" when office infrastructure upgrades or maintenance is required. Assist in Data Center server backup activities, file and data management and IT disaster recovery operations.
    • Monitor and resolve opened tickets in a timely fashion, meeting or exceeding defined service levels while providing quality solutions. Document all actions and solutions within Help Desk tickets and update the technical details within operational procedures as appropriate. Ensure customer satisfaction, including taking ownership of opened tickets and ensuring incidents are fully resolved.
    • Create and maintain support documentation and document operational processes as related to the operations of IT Service Delivery team. Work closely with other IT staff to identify chronic problems and help document the action plan to resolve and hand over for support (e.g., user training, FAQ's, hardware fixes, software upgrades, etc.) Train peers on the resolution of common application issues.
    • Participate in pre-deployment / deployment of projects and provide support, documentation and all readiness documents in preparation for transition to production and hand off to internal support groups.
    • Deliver exceptional customer service skills which include the passion to go above and beyond exceeding client expectations
    • Produce reports as required to facilitate the work deliverables, set and measure customer service targets
    • Participate in IT Service Delivery team meetings and identify outstanding issues and areas for improvement.
    • Undertake any other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Working in an IT environment 3-5 years in a customer service-oriented role. Background in a Help Desk environment tiers 1 & 2.
    • Understanding of Incident and Change Management and ability to follow Seaspan’s process, procedure standards and methodologies
    • Basic understanding of Infrastructure, Business Applications, and Help Desk technology
    • Working knowledge of Active Directory and related user management tasks
    • Well-developed practical operating knowledge of common desktop / laptop hardware and application software specifically, Windows, MS Office Suite, iOS and Android configuration, workstation imaging processes and print services and printers; system application, systems management, data communication including basic networking in LAN/ WAN environment and remote access solutions.
    • Working in an environment requiring constant and clear communications both verbal and written
    • Working in a team environment and experience working cohesively with related IT teams
    • Basic understanding of the project management life cycle
    • Gathering information, analyzing and providing trending analysis.

    Position Description:

    The Team Lead, Fleet-Based Application support provides application support for Fleet-based Business Applications, including NS5, Shipmate, Hull Manager, Seagull, VRS, ECDIS, MAC S3. This position acts as the main point of contact for the corporate application support and related projects. This position will track issues, investigate problems and determine resolutions/or capture enough detail to escalate when required. Responsibilities will include assisting clients by troubleshooting and problem solving, supporting upgrades and enhancements, execution of application maintenance procedures, testing, change management and documentation

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Leads the design, development, testing, adoption and support of all Fleet-Based Business Applications
    • Provides application support by understanding company business processes and how assigned applications, data structure and workflow work
    • Ensures assigned applications operate at optimum levels through regular maintenance
    • Acts as a strategic business partner who can lead and influence discussions with business users and application developers to identify bugs, recommend and implement enhancements

    Position Description

    The Executive Project Specialist provides project-based and administrative support for the CFO. This position provides a broad exposure from daily business operations to strategic development, such as conducting research and project/task management for the CFO. In addition to project-based work, this role will fulfill the administrative functions, such as travel and schedule management for the CFO.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Manages project-based tasks to ensure the CFO adheres to key deliverable deadlines, including assisting with tracking priorities and ensuring projects are completed and followed through
    • Supports the CFO and CFO’s leadership team with project based support focusing on strategic, talent, corporate goals and other key deliverables
    • Responsible for collecting, preparing, and presenting information during discussions or meetings with Senior Executive staff

    • Demonstrated track record of sound judgement and professionalism with the ability to work with senior level executives across multiple business lines and global regions
    • High degree of interpersonal and professional savvy across varying levels of internal management, investors, clients and staff
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate to operational processes

    Position Description:

    The Legal Assistant provides support to in-house counsel, maintains library of legal documents (both paper and electronic), and prepares for board of directors meetings.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Prepares drafts of correspondence and legal documents
    • Coordinates office calendar, including sending and accepting invitations, reminders, and preparation for scheduled events
    • Assists with sanctions screening of financial institutes, vendors, seafarers and 3rd party contractors

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Prepares monthly consolidation working papers and monthly reports to the Board of Directors and Executive Management

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution
    • Certified in a recognized professional accounting membership (eg.  CPA)
    • Minimum 5-years of accounting experience in audit and/or industry including exposure to financial statement preparation and disclosure
    • Experience with foreign currency transactions and intercompany transactions
    • Strong knowledge of complex account reconciliations including resolution of reconciling items

    Position Description:

    The Post- Fixture Manager supervises daily charter operations on company-managed vessels. This position ensures operational functionality and performs charter-party requirements set out by owners and customers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develops strong working relationship with customer's teams at all levels within their organizations 
    • Partners cross-functionally to deliver a best-in-class customer experience 
    • Responsible for monitoring vessel, port, and voyage performance KPIs
    • Monitors the organization's charter party obligations of company vessels
    • Carries out continual risk assessment of vessel operations for potential loss-situations and recommends and assists with mitigation measures
    • Supports and briefs vessel masters on charter party obligations as may be requested from time to time, port and voyage performance issues, including responsible for ensuring that the master understands the requirements, reporting obligations, local contacts and operational structure of the charterer 
    • Assists masters and monitors KPIS, which may include obtaining and analyzing vessel commercial reports in support of claims or other performance matters, including delays or deviations. This will involve close interaction with various internal departments such as Marine Services and Projects and Technology
    • Assists with compiling factual, timely information and documents relating to commercial claims, and internal corporate reporting. Follows up on outstanding (owing) customer amounts
    • Supervises vessel damages, and ensuring correct, timely recovery of amounts due from Charterers. Close coordination with the accounts receivable department is a requirement
    • Monitors vessels for potential trading breaches under the charter party and insurance covers; monitors vessel performance through breach transits
    • Demonstrates a strong understand of customer needs and identifies key trends from within the customer base
    • Performs other duties as required
    • Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).  In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines

    Requirements:

    • Post-secondary degree in relevant field from a recognized institution
    • Minimum five years’ experience in chartering post-fixture or operations management
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    • Must be able to properly analyze situations, mitigate and manage risk, and determine a suitable course of action as part of problem-solving skills

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Able to negotiate with and influence others, establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships
    • Experience in a command role at sea is an asset.
    • Containership sector experience is strongly preferred.
    • High level of charter party understanding is strongly preferred.

    Position Description:

    The Project Marine Engineer is responsible for researching, developing and implementing various engineering and technology projects for the operating fleet and newbuilds as part of the Projects and Engineering function, with particular focus on asset development.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of the assigned engineering projects, and for the planning, control and reporting of it.
    • Provides project management and support for fleet modification and retrofit programs, such as:
    • Vessel hull efficiency measures
    • Fuel Treatment System performance
    • Exhaust gas scrubber retrofitting
    • Cargo loadability upgrades
    • Supports technical research into solutions to comply with upcoming environmental regulations and liaises with cross functional departments on the implementation of these solutions onto vessels and the wider Seaspan organization.
    • Researches assigned technical issues relating to the current fleet, new builds and future vessels and performs functional assessment of the ships’ equipment.
    • Maintains current knowledge of technology changes. Schedules meetings with third party vendors; attends conferences and other offsite workshops that are relevant to technology and fleet performance management. Monitors various publications to keep current with industry trends and concerns.
    • Assists with the development of quotation requests, contracts and specifications.
    • Monitors the products and performance of manufacturers that provide equipment and services to our fleet, as well as the publications to keep current with industry trends and concerns.
    • Performs other duties as required.
    • Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005) and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).  In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines

    Requirements:

    • BSc or BEng or higher in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
    • Minimum 3 years shore management experience including experience in project management
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Fusion
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience in shipbuilding programs/projects would be an asset
    • Shipboard work experience in a technical role would be an asset

    Position Description

    The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the newbuilding projects, including but not limited to liaison with site offices, control and reporting on the milestones, coordination with various departments for the timely executed actions of Fleet Management, Crewing, Legal, etc.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the day-to-day control and reporting of the various newbuilding projects phases, including progress, timelines and budgets.
    • Supports the project planning and executes the setup in company’s management systems
    • Assesses risks and maintains the risk register for the various newbuilding projects
    • Outlines the RACI matrix, follows on the distribution of responsibilities and notifies parties of their participation throughout the whole process
    • Issues statuses reports, End-of-Phase reports, Gate Reviews and informs periodically the management on the content of these
    • Provides support to Delivery Managers in their relationship with shipyards and charterers.
    • Provides support to Site Offices and coordinates their activities in liaison with various departments as per established timelines.
    • Provides support for handling various technical enquiries and processes in liaison with third parties as related to newbuilding activities and preparations for Ship’s Operations.
    • May attend at local production sites at various stages for the purpose of an on-site evaluation and deeper understanding of the process.
    • Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).  In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines

    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, good conflict resolution skills and work well within a team
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
    • Strong analytical skills

    The Finance Transformation Manager will work with the Atlas Corp. and its subsidiaries’ Accounting and Finance teams to scope solutions and strategies on finance business transformation. This position will also be responsible for the successful implementation and go-live of any key business transformational process and system changes. This role will also hold key responsibilities to drive through efficiencies, process improvement and implementation of systems-based approaches to work. Lastly this role will work with Business Transformation team to lead enterprise-wide key strategic transformation initiatives.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Diagnoses and identifies root causes for sub-optimal work processes, including presents issues, findings and recommends solutions identified with the root cause without compromising internal controls/SOX requirements
    • Develops financial transformation plan, including developing reporting processes and financial operating model with the intention of optimizing our efficiencies
    • Leads or assists with the implementation of financial processes and solutions that are scalable for a large international organization, with specific focus on the cross functional process
    • Demonstrate strong business analytics skill and fluent IT literacy in proposing and executing solutions
