    The Vessel Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable and economical operation of assigned vessels. The position applies knowledge of engineering, HR-management, shipping-industry regulations, commercial and legal considerations, and guides sea-staff onboard assigned vessels. The Vessel Manager also takes initiative to continuously improve the performance of assigned ships and strengthens the teamwork between ship and office.     Job Responsibilities:

    • To be familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members either of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines
    • Guides, advises, and monitor vessel operations; also assists crew performing vessel maintenance
    • Researches technical information related to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, improvements, upgrades or modifications for the reliable long-term performance of the vessels
    • Prepares for scheduled dry dockings, surveys and repairs on assigned ships, and arranges and manages supply of spares, stores, and services to vessels before scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs
    • Manages vessels in full compliance with local and international rules and regulations; and with Seaspan’s Safety Management System (SMS)Analyses ships’ performance and relays this information to the onboard master and chief engineer; ensures compliance with current charter-party terms of employment and other commercial concerns
    • Ensures compliance with all necessary operational certification and survey requirements applicable to assigned vessels
    • Visits vessels port; may sail with Seaspan ships to reasonably ascertain that they are operated in a safe, reliable and economical way
    • Monitors function and performance during ship visits and initiates effective problem solving of on-board issues, including technical, quality-assurance, health and safety, commercial or personnel issues
    • Takes ownership of on-board issues and follows them through to resolution
    • Prepares budgets in the required detail for the yearly operation of assigned ships, scheduled dry dockings, surveys, repairs and ad-hoc modifications and repairs within required timelines
    • Monitors expenses of assigned vessels and submits monthly variance reporting and tracks against budget
    • Ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
    • Communicates expectations to direct reports; manages performance and provides leadership and support to team members
    • Demonstrates commitment to Seaspan’s Maritime Resource Management values
    • Performs other duties as required

    Requirements:

    • Must have at least one year of experience as a technical superintendent in a company managing handy-max sized (or larger) vessels engaged in international trading and must have a minimum of one full year in rank as a chief engineer or have completed three contracts as a chief engineer with Seaspan
    • English language skills, both verbal and written, must be effective and suitable for a multi-cultural working environment
    • Strong technical knowledge
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
    • Class 1 Marine Engineer Certificate either valid or last renewed within the previous five years
    • Degree in marine engineering or equivalent

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience working with container ships
    • Education in mechanical engineering or naval architecture
    • Previous experience with new-builds and dry-dockings preferred

    The Seaspan team shares a high performance culture.  Seaspan is seeking a Corporate Development Manager, APAC Operations to join the team based out of Taiwan.  The Corporate Development Manager, APAC Operations is responsible for client relationship management and corporate development activities to grow Seaspan’s current client base and market share, primarily throughout the Asia Pacific. The Corporate Development Manager, APAC Operations liaises with the team in Vancouver on the operational functionality and charter-party performance of assigned vessels to provide best-in-class customer service and value-added solutions to Seaspan customers.     This position requires strong communication and negotiation skills, a broad understanding of our business and customers as well as proven sales/chartering experience to market, develop and seek new opportunities to grow our business.  This person must be capable of proactively interfacing with Seaspan's customers/market and various industry stakeholders to sell Seaspan services and demonstrate the drive and ambition to succeed in a competitive global industry.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accountable for full customer and account management total care between Seaspan and customers and industry players in the designated geographical area of responsibility.  Drives business activities related to development and creation of new business opportunities to maximize revenues, utilization and favorable employment rates. Develop and implement strategies to provide integrated services that meet clients’ requirements and revenue/growth for the company.
    • Lead in strengthening and managing relationships with Seaspan customers through proactively engaging clients on various aspects of their business to provide Customer profile knowledge to Seaspan and to provide tailored best-in-class customer service and response to business needs, opportunities, challenges and requirements.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION 

    As a member of the Financial Services team, the Senior Accountant records, reports and analyzes the financial and operating results of the Seaspan group of companies through accepted accounting practices. The Senior Accountant works closely with the Financial Reporting Analysts to prepare external and internal reporting requirements.

    Job Responsibilities:  

    • Reconciles and analyzes complex accounts with appropriate working papers and supporting documentation (e.g. intercompany accounts, capitalized interest, etc.)
    • Prepares adjustments resulting from the account reconciliation and analysis
    • Prepares and books monthly journal entries and accruals
    • Reviews journals entered by other accountants
    • Evaluates & assesses reasonableness of key general ledger accounts on a monthly basis

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    ROLE DESCRIPTION 

    The Director, Maritime Technology leads the technology development efforts responsible for the research and development of Seaspan’s various maritime technology projects and departmental team members as allocated from time to time. The function  includes vessel performance assessment with a focus on supporting commercial contract compliance and customer relations support. This position works cooperatively and collaboratively with other managers to ensure timely, risk-averse, and consistent technology and development project management, particularly with the Director, Asset Integrity within the P&T team. The Director will support and be influential in the development of the solutions to the strategic goals setting of the company and of the P&T Department. The Director also acts as deputy to the Vice President, Projects and Technology.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of the various technology projects, and for the planning, control, and reporting of related project budgets
    • Maintains professional relationships and official and non-official communication with managers and team members
    • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with external parties in support of an enhanced technology outlook, and in support of Seaspan’s peer to peer contacts within our customer base and other external stake holders
    • Helps develop contracts, specifications and makers list, plan approvals and with the management of the new build projects
    • Monitors products and performance of manufactures that provide fleet equipment and services
    • Responsible for development and execution of the technology strategy focusing on environment, efficiency and performance. Oversees department activities including hull performance monitoring, vessel performance monitoring systems, research and development activities, and legislation review.
    • Engage and support corporate efforts to ensure that Seaspan is at the forefront of digital solutions, translating to concrete business benefits aligned to company strategy.
    • Monitors various publications to keep current with industry trends and concerns, and co-operates with professional organizations and companies on technology and development projects
    • Travels extensively to review vessel construction sites, model testing, conferences, technical meetings, etc.
    • Monitors department expenses, submits monthly variance reporting and tracks against budget.
    • Ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures

    Primary Responsibilities :   

    • Provide financial evaluation of project investment opportunities including review of project & company documents and financing agreements
    • Extensive financial modeling including sensitivity analysis to support potential investment opportunities
    • Create investment memoranda to support potential investment opportunities, which include economic analysis and market studies  
    • Examine and assess economic and market trends, earnings profiles, and risk/return characteristics to determine suitable investment strategies & sectors to focus on

    Requirements

    • Experience with foreign currency transactions and intercompany transactions

    The Team Lead, IT Customer Care & Help Desk also manages project support transition services and strives to achieve timely closure of project implementation issues and ensure a positive synergy exists between project and support teams as well as end users.

    Job Responsibilities:          

    • Provide guidance and leadership to IT Support Specialist including scheduling of team members

    • Recruit, train and manage the help desk team

    • Creation and termination of Network/O365 user accounts

    • Provisioning Okta SSO

    • Managing the rights and permissions of network/email accounts and business applications

    • Creation of group permissions and rights to file directories, application groups and distribution lists

    • Telecommunication service request – moves, adds and changes

    • Create and maintain support documentation and document operational processes as related to the operations of Customer Care team.  Work closely with other IT staff to identify chronic problems (root cause analysis) and help document the action plan to resolve and hand over for support (e.g., user training, FAQ's, hardware fixes, software upgrades, etc.); train peers on the resolution of common application issues.

    • Participate in pre-deployment / deployment of projects and provide support, documentation and all readiness documents in preparation for transition to production and hand off to internal support groups.

    • Deliver exceptional customer service skills which include the passion to go above and beyond exceeding client expectations.

    The Vessel Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable and economical operation of assigned vessels. The position applies knowledge of engineering, HR-management, shipping-industry regulations, commercial and legal considerations, and guides sea-staff onboard assigned vessels. The Vessel Manager also takes initiative to continuously improve the performance of assigned ships and strengthens the teamwork between ship and office.     Job Responsibilities:

    • To be familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members either of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines
    • Guides, advises, and monitor vessel operations; also assists crew performing vessel maintenance
    • Researches technical information related to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, improvements, upgrades or modifications for the reliable long-term performance of the vessels
    • Prepares for scheduled dry dockings, surveys and repairs on assigned ships, and arranges and manages supply of spares, stores, and services to vessels before scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs
    • Manages vessels in full compliance with local and international rules and regulations; and with Seaspan’s Safety Management System (SMS)Analyses ships’ performance and relays this information to the onboard master and chief engineer; ensures compliance with current charter-party terms of employment and other commercial concerns
    • Ensures compliance with all necessary operational certification and survey requirements applicable to assigned vessels
    • Visits vessels port; may sail with Seaspan ships to reasonably ascertain that they are operated in a safe, reliable and economical way
    • Monitors function and performance during ship visits and initiates effective problem solving of on-board issues, including technical, quality-assurance, health and safety, commercial or personnel issues
    • Takes ownership of on-board issues and follows them through to resolution
    • Prepares budgets in the required detail for the yearly operation of assigned ships, scheduled dry dockings, surveys, repairs and ad-hoc modifications and repairs within required timelines
    • Monitors expenses of assigned vessels and submits monthly variance reporting and tracks against budget
    • Ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
    • Communicates expectations to direct reports; manages performance and provides leadership and support to team members
    • Demonstrates commitment to Seaspan’s Maritime Resource Management values

    Requirements:

    • Must have at least one year of experience as a technical superintendent in a company managing handy-max sized (or larger) vessels engaged in international trading and must have a minimum of one full year in rank as a chief engineer or have completed three contracts as a chief engineer with Seaspan
    • English language skills, both verbal and written, must be effective and suitable for a multi-cultural working environment
    • Strong technical knowledge
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
    • Class 1 Marine Engineer Certificate either valid or last renewed within the previous five years
