    Seaspan is seeking a Marine IT Support Specialist to join the team. This position reports directly to the Regional IT Manager and focuses on support and projects to our ships. Support will be provided both remotely and by ship visits at different ports globally. The position requires consistent travel.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Vessel Support

    • Monitor and respond to vessel tickets in the IT ticket system
    • Provide support to vessels and prepares IT requirements for delivery of new vessels based on established hardware guidelines
    • Resolve ship problems: based on their complexity and/or urgency, oversee ship IT issues. Predominantly Windows O/S and Networking support
    • User support in the Hong Kong office when required
    • Plan and schedule IT ship visits in consultation with the Regional IT Manager
    • Visit ships to resolve IT issues and audit active configurations for compliance with Enterprise standard
    • Document and present visit findings to Regional IT Manager

    Requirements

    • Degree or diploma in IT, computer science or similar
    • Two or more years of experience in an IT role

    Additional desired qualifications

    • Previous experience in shipping industry is an asset

    • Must have a valid passport with at least six months validity
    • No known restrictions preventing entry into foreign countries

    The Senior Training Superintendent oversees the training department and other superintendents with respect to navigation and ensures smooth operations in the training department. This position works closely with the Training and Development Manager and the Director, Fleet Personnel and plays a leadership role in creating and executing the company’s training initiatives for deck officers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Seaspan is seeking a Senior Treasury Analyst to join the team.  As a member of the Finance Team, this role works closely with the Treasury Manager and Treasurer to plan and execute payments on the existing $5bn+ portfolio of financings across 50+ credit facilities and leases, as well as inter-company payments and funding between our 50+ companies and 150+ bank accounts.  The ideal candidate is someone who is a creative thinker and can work both independently and in a team environment.  The position requires a self-starter with a strong structure financing background, attention to detail, drive for continuous improvement and must be able to communicate effectively in Mandarin.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manages and summarizes cash for Seaspan Corp (parent) and all subsidiaries for inter-company payments and funding between our 50+ companies and 150+ bank accounts
    • Initiates payment processes for existing $5bn+ portfolio of financings across 50+ credit facilities (secured and unsecured) and leases (operating, structured, and capital leases), and ensuring compliance with all earnings, retention, security account requirements
      • Adheres to the financing calendar and makes timely payments to our domestic and international financiers, taking into consideration time zone differences, banking hours and holidays in different countries, availability of signing authorities and each bank’s required processing time
    • Administers company credit cards, processes daily bank transactions including wires from online banking software, Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), Customer Initiated Transfers (CIT), investments and FX transactions
    • Follows approval limits and processes in order to comply with internal policies and SOX
    • Updates weekly executive reports related to cash and financing amount balances and changes to those balances, interest rates, derivative MTM and payments (including FX and Interest Rate derivatives), charterhire payments, interest and commitment fee payments, and inter-company operating cash flow
    • Works with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and banks regarding issues on wires, EFT payments, etc
    • Manages processes for tracking the opening, and closing of bank accounts
    • Manages KYC and provides all required information to financier Agents
    • Supports Treasury Manager in reviewing financier payments, adhering to information and insurance covenants, procuring vessel valuation reports, distribution of compliance certificates and financial information to satisfaction of financiers, and meeting conditions for funding/draw downs on financing and vessel payments for S&P contracts                     

    PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

    • Creative thinking with a can-do mentality, minimum 3 years of experience in working and managing cash accounts and financing payments (for issuer)
    • Solid understanding of domestic and international payment systems, foreign exchange and interest rate principles, and global/domestic cash management products and techniques
    • Hands on experience in summarizing cash balances and financings/loans balance, account reconciliations, including resolution of reconciling items
    • Self-starter and ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines
    • Working outside normal hours to meet deadlines and accommodate time zone differences, such as calls/emails to Asia (into morning China time) and Europe hours (from late afternoon Switzerland time)
    • Must read, write and speak fluent Mandarin with a high-degree of proficiency

  • Associate Counsel

    Seaspan is seeking an Associate Counsel to join the team. The Associate Counsel reports directly to the General Counsel, and is primarily responsible for all vessel and maritime matters and providing support to the operations and commercial departments.

    The Associate Counsel will have extensive maritime knowledge in the international shipping industry, and preferably in the containership sector. The Associate Counsel should be knowledgeable with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulatory standards, MARPOL, sanctions, anti-bribery, crewing union agreements, vessel chartering contracts and shipbuilding agreements. The Associate Counsel will also deal with insurance and maritime related litigation and dispute resolution matters, and will be directly instructing external counsel on these matters.

    The Associate Counsel will work with a great degree of autonomy, must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage projects with a number of cross functional groups. As well, the Associate Counsel will be responsible for formulating, setting and enforcing policies.

    The Associate Counsel will be joining a department that currently consists of three other lawyers (including the General Counsel), one paralegal and one legal assistant.  From time to time, the Associate Counsel will assist on securities offerings, financings, corporate governance and board meetings.

    Requirements:

    • Be a qualified lawyer in good standing with a Canadian, UK or US bar association
    • A minimum five-year call

    The Internal Audit Analyst is responsible for supporting the Company’s efforts to meet its financial controls compliance goals.  This role is responsible for updating Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control documentation and testing for control effectiveness to support Management’s assessment of internal controls over financial reporting.  In addition, the Internal Audit Analyst provides support to various Internal Audit projects.

    Occasional international travel is required, potentially on short notice
    Availability via a company-provided mobile device outside of office hours
    Ability to lift up to 25 kg
    Sufficient mobility to complete cabling and setup tasks
