    Seaspan is seeking a Purchaser to join the team. This position is responsible for ensuring that all supplies are delivered to the vessel in a timely and cost effective manner both for assigned ships and new delivers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Responds to requisitions received from assigned vessels for stores and supplies. Issues Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s) to approved vendor

    • Communicates with vendors following defined procedures to process requests for quotes and issue purchase orders using the company’s purchasing module

    • Communicates with Superintendents, Purchasing Manager, and other team members to ensure the information is shared with all affected. Plans purchases to connect the spares to the vessel efficiently

    • Ensures that supplies are supplied to the vessel in a timely manner. The goal is to ensure cost-efficient, safe, and timely operation of the vessels in accordance with company policy and practices

    • Ensures that the purchase activities for the vessels allocated are up to date at all times, properly reflected in the company’s database and there are no pending issues

    • Creates, authorizes, and reviews requisition

    Requirements:

    • Two or more years of experience in shipping company in a purchasing role or equivalent

    • Completed graduation in any discipline (3 years university or equivalent)

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style

    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience in a ship management company is an asset.

    • Experience using purchasing software an asset

    Seaspan is seeking a Financial Analyst (FP&A) to join the team. The financial analyst is responsible for supporting all levels of the corporate finance team including maintaining financial models, projections, and analysis to support corporate planning and strategic initiatives. This position provides support to the financial planning and analysis manager by gathering data from a variety of sources and inputting into our financial models (deal level and corporate level), as well as, developing new models from concept to completion and conclusion.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Maintains and improves the corporate financial model, including running various scenario analyses as required to evaluate overall impact on earnings, liquidity, and financial covenants. Builds in quality assurance to ensure accuracy of results produced
    • Runs vessel deal analysis and supports conclusions by building cash flow models to evaluate key financial metrics and intangible aspects of potential deals.
    • Participates in the preparation and forecasting of the annual budget. Takes initiative to work with financial reporting and other team members to ensure that assumptions are accurate
    • Assists team members by providing data to support answers to questions about the corporate and deal models. Monitors performance indicators, highlighting trends, and analyzes causes of unexpected variances
    • Supports the Treasury team in analyzing, modeling, and preparing presentations of new financing (debt and equity) options, including hedging instruments.  Determines and analyzes the impact of incremental financing options and prepares presentations of the impact/results and next strategic actions
    • Assists in preparing presentations to the board of directors, senior management, investors, and lenders
    • Completes ad hoc and strategic analyses, including operating cost review, tax planning and compliance, hedging strategies, M&A analysis, valuations, and evaluates financing proposals and supports recommendation to the board and executives
    • Performs other duties as required

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business/commerce or MBA from a recognized institution
    • CPA accreditation achieved while working for a Big Four Firm
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles
    • Understanding of differences for cash flow treatment and of valuation models, IRR, and cash flow valuations
    • Strong expertise in Excel for financial modeling and forecasting
    • Enjoys working with numbers, with a high degree of accuracy and is comfortable with large spreadsheets
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Able to work under pressure with strict deadlines

    Additional desired qualifications

    • Enrollment in CFA or CVB program/accreditation
    • Strong understanding of US GAAP
    • Exposure to the shipping industry
    • Strong research and analytical skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Fleet Performance Analyst

    Seaspan is seeking a Fleet Performance Analyst to join the team. The Fleet Performance Analyst monitors vessel performance information and helps develop and issue vessel performance reports. Models complex fleet performance problems, discovers insights about fleet operations, and identifies opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, data mining and visualization techniques. Integrates and prepares large datasets from multiple sources. Automates data modeling and analytic processes using knowledge of programming languages. Creates robust and reliable models that test the feasibility of modules being deployed to Seaspan’s Vessel Reporting System. Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ways to gain further insights from data.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Creates models for analyzing operational data from VRS and other data sources using statistical and computer programming techniques. Automates analytics and reporting tasks by developing appropriate code for refreshing results & repeatability
    • Works with IT to ensure programming is consistent with company requirements and integrates with other companies systems where appropriate
    • Visualizes and delivers results of analysis by creating reports, infographics, and dashboards that benefit other departments within the organization
    • Communicates (verbally and in reports) insights collected from analysis with superintendents and senior managers in Projects & Technology, Commercial, and other operations departments
    • Collaborates with Fleet Performance Superintendent to implement best practices in business intelligence and data analysis
    • Collaborates with Fleet Performance Superintendent to conceptualize and implement the continued development of fleet performance systems
    • Triggers semi-automated calendar/event based reports for analysis, distribution and discussion
    • Helps fleet performance superintendent maintain data health and voyage performance metrics and thresholds

    Requirements

    • Proficiency with general purpose programming language (e.g. Python) and associated libraries for scientific/computing, including various statistical and visualization packages (e.g. Pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy, SciPy)
    • Effective analytical, mathematical, and problem solving skills
    • Able to work in a cooperative way with the various stakeholders and communicate information effectively
    • Sound organizational/prioritization skills
    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment 

    Additional desired qualifications

    • Full Stack web developer with proficiency in Python.
    • Proficiency with Business Intelligence Software
    • Previous experience in a similar analyst role is an asset

    The successful candidate will have a proven track record leading a public company, including practical experience in the U.S. capital markets and investor relations and a sound foundation in finance and accounting. We are looking for a high energy individual with exceptional communication and relationship building skills. The CEO will lead the executive team and provide the vision and direction for the organization, reporting to the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will bring global experience in the transportation and logistics sector, with emphasis on Europe and Asia.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Chief Executive Officer or Senior Finance Executive with a publicly listed company
    • Fluent in English with strong communication skills. An effective public speaker and experienced in investor relations
    • Extensive experience and background in the U.S. capital markets and financial accounting literate
    • Proven ability to lead an organization and executive-level strategic thinking, business acumen and analysis
    • Ability to identify opportunities and strategically execute upon them

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree, Certified Public Accountant designation or equivalent
    • Experience in the transportation and logistics sector is preferred
    • Negotiation skills in managing alternative options with respect to deal analysis, debt negotiation, etc.
    • Experience in European and Asian financing markets
    • Foreign language familiarity in Mandarin a strong plus
